Zachary Godard’s
life isn’t lacking in beautiful women, fast cars, and unlimited wealth. Or in
people with reasons to kill him. As the recently inherited owner of the largest
oil company in the world and the sole financier of the newly formed United
Countries of America, militant political activist groups and regimes bent on
world domination alike would benefit from his demise. Then there is his
four-minute younger brother, who fell victim to their deceased father’s old
world mentality that a second son is merely the spare. And finally his mother, vice
president of the United Countries of America, second only to the man who blew
the world into its current post-apocalyptic state to give rise to his Blood
Mage Order, destroying Zachary’s life in the process.

With bullets whizzing by at any given moment as he tries to secretly fund a rebellion against this new supernatural world order, Zachary knows his magic isn’t enough to defend himself and is forced to hire protection. Her name is Lauren Trinidad, and she hates everything for which he stands. But he doesn’t have time to prove her wrong before he must trust her to help him find out who is trying to kill him. All he can do is hope that either his charm or the fat paycheck will convince her he’s worth saving.
